While it's true that menstrual periods stop at about age 50, menopause is actually a process that begins during a woman's fourth decade.
 |
Sometime around age 45, a woman's ovaries start producing fewer eggs and hormones. Menstrual bleeding changes in amount and regularity. In time, it stops altogether.
Emotional and physical changes that may occur include moodiness, hot flashes, and vaginal dryness. Some women experience dizziness, headache, fatigue, stomach bloating, change in breast size, and osteoporosis.
|
But there's a positive side to menopause, too. Many women enjoy the freedom from pregnancy and periods and a new-found interest in sex.
A healthy lifestyle can help make this time easier for you. Eat well-balbanced meals, exercise frequently, and get enough rest.
Regular checkupswill help us determine if you need medications to help you through this natural stage in your life.
