for the G-8 Summit in June!

Dr. Carl Dohn, will build the 15-foot round table that will seat eight world leaders when they meet on Sea Island in June. Twenty 1,500 pound beams will be sawed into boards to make the large table and 10 smaller tables where members of the delegations will sit behind their leaders. Construction of the main table will require from 200 to 300 hours of work according to Dr. Dohn. At 3 inches thick, 15 feet in diameter and resting on five pedestals, the table weight could only be described as 'a lot.' "It's hard to make a round table look good," he says.

After the summit, the table will be used for board meetings of the Sea Island Co. According to Dr. Dohn, in order for the large table to fit, architects have had to redesign the company's board room.

Mr. Barry Bennett, spokesperson for the Summit Planning Organization, says this table will be different than tables at other G-8 summits because it will have a "local flavor" from reclaimed, indigenous wood. "This will be something in the community for decades and decades and decades" stated Mr. Bennett.

"It is a big honor," Dr. Dohn said.
